How does an author start writing a picture book?
With an idea, of course! It doesn't have to big a BIG idea; great books can come from small moments, especially if you use your five senses. Next is revisions -- every word counts! Dress Like Your Job!
With the book DRESS LIKE A GIRL as the starting point, students will challenge their thinking about which professions are accessible to them. Can a girl be a firefighter? You bet! Can a boy be a nurse? Yes, he can! We also take a look at some historically odd outfits, as well as examining how clothing "fits" the job. Best for grades K-2. collection of poems. I help them discover tools
that can "superpower" their poetry.
