Dress Like Your Job!
With the book DRESS LIKE A GIRL as the starting point, students will challenge their thinking about which professions are accessible to them. Can a girl be a firefighter? You bet! Can a boy be a nurse? Yes, he can! We also take a look at some historically odd outfits, as well as examining how clothing "fits" the job. Best for grades K-2. Poetry is my superpower!
I've written poetry for magazines and anthologies,
and all of my picture books are in verse.
In this presentation, as students explore a diverse
collection of poems. I help them discover tools
that can "superpower" their poetry.

The Rollercoaster Ride
Writing is anything BUT an even road! Using two books that took very different paths, students and I will compare and contrast how these stories came to life. We will discuss the five Rs of an author's life - reading, (w)riting, revision, rejection, and rising up again. Adaptable to all ages. Maximum 60 students. 45-60 minutes, including Q&A. |
